We know seeing posts about the extreme weather must be feeling a little like a broken record by now. But we have the same feeling seeing dogs being walked and cats out during this heat.
With the temperature already feeling hot and having a predicted minimum of 29 overnight, it really is an inside air-con day for us all.
There’s nothing worse than wearing a long sleeve top, long pants and socks when it’s going to be 36 and you aren’t prepared, so think about your pets being in their beautiful furry coats.
You can mentally stimulate your pets with
- frozen food cubes
- challenging puzzle toys
- soft destructive toys
- kids shell pools and cheap sprinklers are great for aquatic dogs
- or for some having a good snooze all day will do just fine.
Let your pooch have the day off and no walks during this heat. If you see any wandering pets bring them into our refreshing cool clinic and we will monitor their temperature and contact their owner via the microchip.
Also there’s other reptiles in our areas that will be loving this sun so best to keep your pooch and kitty inside.
And don’t forget about our native wildlife and birds. By putting a bowl (or old container) of water in the front or back garden, you are giving our wildlife a safe area to cool down.
